About Us

Having owned and experienced the need for good care for our horses and dogs, we, colletively, have more than 60 years of experience.  We know first hand how important our animals are, how emotionally involved we are with them... and how stressful it can be when they are in distress.

Our mission is to offer what we feel are the very best (and very different!) topical solutions on the market today to assist owners in making their animals comfortable and healthy.  Our customers over the last 13 years have been wonderful!

Please note: Because they are so effective, they are very cost effective.  A small amout is usually all you need!  Also, they are so versatile and useful on so many different conditions, that, as customers have told us, "it's the ONLY thing I NEED!".

There are no other products in the animal industry today that contain the same propriatary formulas.  We brought these unusual products into the animal industry under the names Equine Relief Antimicrobial, Canine Relief Antimicrobial and Equine Artistry + (plus).

We really do appreciate our customers.. and have become friends with many of you.  Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your patronage and for spending time on our site (and on the phone!)  :o)

Donalyn & Ron
Equine Elite Labs

The story of how Equine Elite Labs came to be.

It was a God-send that we met such an innovative and honest skin specialist at a convention associated with our other business in the professional beauty industry.  (after 20 years of showing up at the beauty industry conventions the way we normally dress (in our cowboy hats and boots) everyone knew we raised quarter horses and border collies).   I must admit however, that as typical horse owners, we were skeptical of *yet another topical*.  We had five cupboards in the barn full of the typical topicals. .. why on earth would we need something else taking up space on the shelves?

The skin specialist kept stressing that these formulas are different because they penetrate through the protective epidermis barrier and reach/treat deep lying problems on contact.  They would be an asset to the animal industry.  This information, for the most part, went in one ear and out the other.  What did catch my attention, however, was that for as powerful as he said it was, it was gentle and did NOT sting. .. And (another big plus!) it was NOT toxic!   So we agreed to try some on animals.  He sent us home with a gallon of what we now label as the Body Wash. ... and we proceeded to use it as a door stop in the office.  (ok, we got busy with other things.. and forgot about it)

About six month later, we bought a young stallion prospect.  When we brought him home, we noticed that he was itching.  It really caught our attention when he pushed through the non-climb fence and fell out of his paddock and into the yard.  (He'd scratch his itchy skin by rubbing his body down the mesh fenceline).  Since it's not really a good idea to have a yearling stud colt hanging out in the front yard, we moved him to a paddock with pipe fencing. There, he proceeded to throw himself to the ground trying to relieve his itching.  Not a good thing. .. and I can't say that I had ever seen anything quite like it.  Nothing else was wrong with him except that he had relentless itchy skin.

Nothing we used (out of our five cupboards) would stop the itching.  He was checked for lice, dry skin, parasites.. anything.. but we couldn't determine why his skin was so itchy.  ... Then came that "ahHA!" moment.  We remembered the "door stop".  As a last resort, we thought we'd give the mystery solution a try.

It might sound corny to say that if we hadn't seen it, we wouldn't have believed it... but as it came into contact with his skin, he gave out a big sigh.. and completely stopped itching.  It was gone. .. *poof*. .. as easy as a bath with the (now) "Body Wash".  On a side note, it was also nice that his coat was soft and shiney when he dried.   It was also nice to know that, since the products are gentle and non-toxic, we did not need to use gloves during his bath/treatment.   (These products are FDA registered for use on humans)  .. and that's the end of the story with the colt.  One wash and his itching was instantly and completely gone.  It seemed *too easy*.

The itching event made me a bit curious. Though I was cautiously pleased, I wouldn't allow myself to get excited.  I was looking for something else to try it out on.  I decided that Little Bucky would be my next guinea pig.

We had a little 14.2 hand gelding, (Buckeye's Best) who wore eggbar shoes on the front.   (complete ovals)  Even though I cleaned his hooves daily at feeding time, it seemed like I was having to treat him for thrush every two weeks or so.  This had gone on for EIGHT years.  I was saying things (like I hear now) "He has chronic thrush".

It was time for another treatment.  The thrush was back.. his soles were black and they stunk!  I didn't expect much to happen. .. certainly nothing different from what I'd currently been using. (well, except for the gross stains on the floor and on my boots and hands).  I poured some of the clear solution (Body Wash) in my hand.. and then rubbed it all over the sole, frog, heel and outside of his hooves.  I rubbed the excess into my hands (which made them soft and bacteria free)  .. Then I told him "good night" and called it a day.

The next morning, I picked up his feet to treat them again... except that to my absolute astonishment, it looked like he never had thrush!   They looked like perfectily healthy hooves!  I was so surprised, that I called Ron over to make sure I wasn't imagining things.

I decided NOT to treat him again.  .. but when the farrier came out to do trims a few weeks later, I asked him to double check.. "Does Buck have thrush again yet?" I asked.  .. "Nope, no thrush" was the answer.   Well, six week - farrier back out again.. same dialogue.. "nope, no thrush".   Six months into this, Ron said "Have you noticed that Buck's thrush still hasn't come back?"  (of course, I'd been busy doing other things.. and not really focused on issues that weren't there .. like thrush).

I called the skin specialist to ask "What's going on? .. Bucky typically gets thrush every two weeks!  He's been doing this for eight years!   I gave him ONE treatment with your stuff and the thrush has NOT come back in six months!" ..    We were told that, like many skin disorders, we only see the evidence that is on the surface.  There are many solutions that will kill the bacteria or fungus that they touch on the skin's surface.  By all appearances, it looks like the condition is cured. ... but then it comes back.  This is because the bacteria and/or fungus is deeper in the tissue than the solutions can reach.  The body is warm and moist, like a petri dish, so any bacteria or fungus WILL grow again.  When it finally resurfaces, it appears that he has another case of thrush (or fungus).. when in fact, it is the same case that was never completely killed.

The nice clear solution that the skin specialist sent home with us, has a very unique property of PENETRATING deep into the tissue taking the 'kill power' of a surgical scrub with it.  It can actually REACH the SOURCE of the problem and ELIMINATE it on contact!

He went on to say that this same theory works to instantly relieve the discomfort (and hence heal) hot spots on dogs, itching on dogs and horses (not uncommon that it's simply bacteria picked up from their environment!). .. dog fungus, rain rot (fungus) on horses, thrush and many forms of dermatitis.  Even with dog allergies, any disruption on the skin is vulnerable to bacteria that can make them uncomfortable.  Once the bacteria is eliminated, comfort is usually restored.

Ok, so now, I was wishing that I'd paid more attention at the initial meeting.  I do remember being skeptical when he said that "it neutralizes the venom of many insect bites.".  (why would it do that?).  As it turns out, it's true.  .. not only on our horses, but on us too. ... and my mother .. and my nephew .. and some of our friends.  .. but I digress..

We then, still not believing our eyes,  decided to get some feedback from other horse breeders and trainers that we knew.  They ended up using it on wounds, scratches (leg fungus on horses), girth gall and rain rot. ... all with spectacular results!   Not only did they say that it worked better, but that treatment was easy, there was no discomfort to the animals and the healing was faster than anything they'd used before.

We came to realize that, even if we didn't end up with a huge business, we needed to get these products distributed into the hands of animal owners!  At least we'd know that we made an effort to make a positive difference in the lives of animals.. and the owners trying to treat them.   We don't have the advertising budget that the 'big boys' have.. so much of our success is due to word-of-mouth by happy customers.  We value and really appreciate the feedback and photos from our customers!  We hope to share your success stories on our testimonial page some day!  Feel free to send your stories and photos!  We'd love to see and hear about them!
